I’m on a lot of lists – and I mean a lot ☺
So you can imagine I see some amazing work out there, and some not so amazing work, which is the reason I’m writing this emergency blog/public service announcement post today.
I just saw one.
A really bad one*
If you’re using email marketing (maybe it’s Infusionsoft or some other system), here’s a quick list of what not to do:
Heavy branding everywhere – ughgh, it’s really old fashioned, doesn’t load well on most systems, and just looks way too ‘salesy’… It’s killing your conversion rates!
Terms & Conditions – The really bad email I just received, had 9 kinda unfriendly terms and conditions bulletpointed on the email – nooooooooo – don’t do that! The purpose of your message is to get a sale by making yourself and your business one that your prospect knows, likes and trusts – not scare your prospects away…!
Order Form – When I clicked the link to investigate further I went straight to the order form. The plain, boring, unbranded, order form. Order forms need to build trust too – would I put my details into that form? No way, no how… Your order form, needs to instil confidence, not send your prospects running for the hills to get away from your cleaning business…
Whew. I needed to share that.
If you are committing any of these email marketing sins – make it your number 1 mission TODAY (yes, I hate all caps, but I needed to yell that part!), to change these emails….
*And no, I wouldn’t dream of outing this Company or identifying who they are (this is a safe place..:) )– I just hope they see this Blog post – and if you have any Cleaning Business Owners you know, do your good deed for the day, and share this post with them (they need to know…) Lisa x
PS If you’re wondering about any email marketing ‘sins’ your cleaning business might be making – let me know in the comments below… (you’re in a safe place, remember?).. Or reach out to me in private at www.cleaningmarketer.com
